Welcome to our Homestead - online!

We are finally upgrading to having our own website - well our own free website anyways. We have struggled with whether or not to even have a website - after all we are an off grid homestead in the middle of the mountains - a website seems to be somewhat a contridiction, however, here we are!

We have had our facebook page for a while, and I find it fairly easy to manage with my phone and limited computer time. Of course the off grid part of things adds it's own unique challenges with the combination of new and old technology. Working at a computer by oil lantern is always a good time.

Anyways, here we are. Joining the 21st century, again.

Our homestead products however, will continue to be raised, grown and made using the methods from days past, as the old ways are making a come back as people are realizing that pumping our bodies full of chemicals in the form of herbicides, pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, growth hormones, antibiotics, harsh chemical cleaners, along with many others is not healthy.

The modern farm grows their crops in such a way that the soil cannot sustain adequate nutrients to produce crops year after year, so they are reliant on syntheic fertilizers. Everyone wants perfect tomatos, apples, and other produce, so they are reliant on pesticides. Large commercial farms cannot be out there hand weeding their fields, so they use herbicides. A lot of these chemicals pass through into the produce, and therefore into your body when you consume them.

No, we are not saying all advances are a bad thing, far from it! Do we believe in raising a quality product while doing our best to ensure we are maintaining our farm environment, absolutely!

We will post more on it at a later time, however, we are not organically certified, nor are we interested in going down that road. Why you ask...simply put - money. How we raise our animals and produce would qualify for organic certification, of that we have no doubt, however, it would cost us thousands of dollars to get certified, and thousands of dollars each year to maintain that certification. Do you want to pay double for your products? The other challenge, because we live in an area with very limited certified organic farmers, we wouldn't be allowed to support other local farmers by purchasing hay, silage, etc from them, which would further increase costs to accomodate trucking of thses items from much further distances. Do you need certified organic, or are you happy knowing you are eating naturally raised, pastured meat, produce grown without use of chemicals and handmade products from natural raw materials?

We hope you enjoy our website and our products - come back for updates on what is going on and available.
